As it was our fist time trying baleadas, I asked the tuk tuk driver to recommend us the best spot in Utila to eat them. He excited told us Mama Rosa was the place we were looking for.nHe was absolutely right.nFirst you have to order and pay for your food and the wait for the magic to happen.nAvocado chicken Baleada was really good, but the jewel in the crown is the pupusa! It was insane!!

Best baleadas in Utila ! the service is very quick, the food is fresh, the atmosphere is décontracté, I went every day for the same order and was not disappointed, perfect for lunch or dinner. I also tried their papaya smoothie and it was very delicious.
My go-to spot on the island, i had baleadas, quesadillas, and burritos. Photo is of chicken baleada with avocado. I was so upset because my dad ate my leftover burrito on sunday and they are closed on sunday and i really wanted the rest of my chicken burrito. Needless to say absolutely delicious, the young girl at the front is a sweetheart, and I will be so sad to go home away from Baleadas Mama Rosa. 1000/10!!!
This is the kind of local joint I like to come across and support while backpacking. A proper food experience. I was beyond full afterwards. Reminds me a lot of restaurants I’d come across backpacking SE Asia

We ate there every meal of the day for two whole days. They have good prices and the food is delicious (the baleadas especially). In terms of value, it's one of the best on the island. The only downside is that you can only pay in cash, but everything else is very good.
Great food here! We tried the pupusas and the camarones al ajillo (shrimps with garlic sauce), and they were both super tasty!

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Me and my friend got pupusas from this place and they weren’t bad but the cabbage that goes with the pupusas didn’t look too appetizing. I ended up skipping the cabbage and ate the pupusas. My friend on the other hand ate the cabbage. The next day comes and she’s extremely sick. She was running a fever and had intense stomach cramps accompanied by diarrhea. We went to the island clinic and they prescribed her medication that didn’t help. Once she was back in the states, they ran lab results and it turned out she had E. Coli and Shigella bacteria in her gut. She had contracted food borne illness. The last thing she had eaten was mama rosas pupusas, most likely caused from unwashed cabbage. The whole place looked unsanitary but so was almost all the places in Utila so we didn’t think much of it. But honestly skip this place if you’re ever in Utila. My friend almost died because they decided to not wash the cabbage or their hands before dealing with food. So disgusting!!!

The lovely ladies working there make it a really nice place to be, and so does the chilled, cute atmosphere.nWe only ate baleadas here and while they were good, and we went back a fair few times, they were not the best I have had. They are not the flatbread type, stuffed full baleadas I love the most. But they are good. We tried baleadas at several places while in Utila. Mama Rosa served the best...by far. Definitely try other places on the island, but I have a suspicion you'll wind up back at Mama Rosa. The baleadas are fresh, cheap, and delicious. Portion sizes are massive. Also, do yourself a favor and have their pupusas. Again, huge portion sizes. They were, hands down, the best pupuas I've ever had. This will be our go-to place when we're on the island!
I ate baleadas here every day in Utila, never stopped being delicious! Tasty and big and filling, exactly what you want after diving! The tortillas are so fresh and yummy, so much better than their neighbours! So cheap!! Will miss my daily baleada fix here

One of the best (if not the best) restaurant in Utila for some true Honduran cuisine nnThe portions are really big and really delicious - I recommend the Baleadas and the Quesadillas (best ones in 1month trip).nnEverything is very fresh and they are relatively fast as well to prepare the food (something to appreciate in Utila).

Mama Rosa restaurant is definitely a place where you need to stop in Utila. Doris at the « reception » will take your order, a lovely lady.nnThe food has generous portion and most importantly it is very good. We been there already 3 times in 3 days has the price are also attractive, we will be back for sure before we leave the island because we love it !nnAlso the service is fast nnThe specialty of Mama Rosa is beleadas which I recommand to try. We also order the burger and french fries and we were very happy with it. The spicy sauce on the ta le are also excellent.nnThe tables are placed on sand, so it is possible that you sit in a place with a bit of flies bit nothing really to worried.

Great food for good price. Can be a little slow at service as things are made one by one, but you get your food eventually (and it comes out in the order it's ordered). For the price, it's good and staff are friendly and nice.
Mama Rosa was sensationalnWonderful baleadas and we visited every day we were on the island, sometimes twice a day. The pork was our favourite but we tried nearly all of them so you can’t go wrong.

Dear owner, could you please install more fans? Everything is excellent, but they lack ventilation. You need to install larger fans.
If you are looking for the best deal on the best classic Honduran food, look no further than Mama Rosa - The only thing larger than the menu are the portions and everything is cooked fresh to order. The baleadas are gargantuan and the pupusas are an absolute home run. Paired with some company and bebidas, you're guaranteed to have a phenomenal time at Mama Rosa's any time of the day!
