Great service, a straightforward yet flavorful menu, and excellent prices make you want to return to this restaurant, not to mention its excellent atmosphere! And its golfeado! Out of this world! Without a doubt, trying their food will make you want to come back!
Food, service, atmosphere all good. Much more expensive than it should be. The prices listed on Google maps are false advertising.
We went in for brunch and the arepas with all their fillings and sides were excellent. Tequeños were great too and the sangría was delicious. Service was truly outstanding.nThe atmosphere was amazing, not only with live music but also spontaneous salsa dancing. We had a really good time and recommend White Maize for the authentic Venezuelan experience.
A restaurant few people talk about. They serve tasty dishes at appropriate costs. Each food item was noticeably tasty. Every staff member was extremely accommodating. Don't delay experiencing this restaurant.
Amazing food. & celiac/gluten-free friendly!!
Such a fun and random find! We were going to shop at Room & Board and found this place. Drinks were great and the pulled pork cachapas and mini empanadas were delicious! The open windows were great for a rainy day too. Highly recommend!
The service was slow. The food was filling but portions were very small for the price you pay. For example, my soup only filled 1/4 of the bowl & my arepa was the size of 1/2 a wrap. The menu selections were limited & no photos or prices were listed.
Just good quality true Venezuelan dishes, honest, friendly not overachieving staff. I was visiting NYC with a Venezuelan friend but the night was filled with memories and stories.nI would however return alone again when visiting…
White Maize is amazing! Very very good food, the beef cachapa and pork arepa were great, very nice ambiance and service. I also had the tres leches cake and loved it
If you love corn this is the place to be. Very filling food, had a shrimp arepa and is enough to satisfy for a meal. Its packed with shrimp. First time trying a calchapta and I'm a fan.
Finally, a real Venezuelan arepa in NY! The food was exceptional: highly recommend the cheese cachapa, the vegetarian pabellón arepa, and the tequenos. To top it all off, they also head great cocktails!
Great food in a cozy full of Latin music atmosphere
I come here all the time with my friends and visitors! The food is absolutely delicious (get the carne cachapa and mini empanadas) and the service is fantastic. Cannot recommend this place enough!
Best Venezuelan food in NYC ♥️ Sunday brunch has live music from 12-2pm and you can get their arepa special with multiple sides for $35! I got the fried arepas (incredible), reina pepiada and perico for proteins, and nata, queso de mano, queso rallado y tajadas por sides. Tequeños were also amazing!
Excellent food, excellent service! And what I didn't expect: an excellent show. Come and enjoy.
One of my fav new rests in Chelsea! So aesthetic and cozy, I enjoyed the vibe. Then the food was delicious and a right mix between traditional and original’s Venezuelan dishes and drinks. La Parrilla y el Vuelve a la Vida are too much They made feel at home. 100% recommended!!
Great place!! Kathy was great with the cooking class!
This is a great place for dinner with friends. It has a really nice ambience. The food and service are top notch!
This elevated Venezuelan spot has fresh, Michelin level cocktails! The menu is unique and tailored to the flavors of the culture while also satisfying New York’s Cocktail Culture. If you go here, each drink is crafted and delicious. I tried the El Llanero with hints of pear and the La Fresa, a cocktail with Pistacio. For food, the empanadas are super tasty and not expensive. You can find a variety for each person, plus gluten free (corn based). Not only this but they play reggaeton and have a arepa brunch on weekends. Gabriel shines on the floor and is so friendly and chill. Highly recommend coming here and I’ll be back.
I visited White Maize for the first time for an arepa making class and it was an absolutely incredible experience. Not only was the food delicious, a 10 out of 10, the ambiance and service was amazing!!!!!! Thank you Kathy for being such a kind and wonderful host and making this experience such a great one. I will definitely be back soon, the arepas were delish!!!!!
Wow, it takes me back to my beloved Venezuela, the food is super delicious, congratulations to the chef.
This was a wonderful dinner experience. I’m already familiar with homemade Venezuelan food from 13 years living in Queens, and I went here to White Maize at the suggestion of friends who are from Venezuela; they did not let me down. Everything I had (especially the tequenos, the empanadas, the cheese cachapa, and the mandocas) was worth every bite. The Parrilla plate was rich and delicious, and the arepa camarones was light and fresh. The tres leches dessert was a perfect ending. The staff and business owner were all very welcoming, serving immaculate vibes overall. Cannot wait to go back!
Some Venezuelan friends took me to White Maize to celebrate a lecture and the food and service was amazing! I honestly can’t wait to return. Empanadas are not like any you’ve had before, the absolute best! Tres leches for dessert, but try it all.
Beautiful setting, delicious Venezuelan food, excellent service, and great hours.
Tasty and healthy food, friendly service
I was disappointed with the brunch menu. Two mini-arepas for $35. The service was slow and we left hungry. The food quality is good but it’s hard to justify the price.
The sweetcorn pancake is a really special experience. I really like it. I went there on a Friday night. All the seats were occupied. A little bit noisy during that night.
This was the best meal we had during our trip to NYC. The drinks were delicious and the food was incredible. The owner, Kati, was so engaging and present throughout our dinner. We would recommend White Maize to anymore looking for an intimate, authentic meal.
The food is delicious, the place is cute and fun, and the staff is soooo nice! Especially the owner, Katy, who went above and beyond to make us have a good time, giving us an extra drink . Fully recommend it !
We had the best time at the arepa making class! Kathy is wonderful and the location is a 10/10.nnIf you are looking for a weekday activity that is educational, fun and delicious - this is it!nnWe will definitely be back
Excellent atmosphere, excellent food. Good service 1000% recommended
Great food, great vibes . Loving this place. Highly recommend the brunch on weekends!
After almost 10 years away from home, this is the true Venezuelan spot. Their tequeños, arepas, and parrilla are absolutely incredible. Finally—some real, delicious Venezuelan food in the neighborhood. Thank you!
I went for an arepa from Chicharrón pavilion, but finally they gave me a Pasapalos style, the mandocas also small. Although I went with good expectations, I think there was a lack of better communication. The food tastes very good. So I spent more than 50 dollars on tapas and now I have to eat somewhere else hahaha
Delicious! Especially the carpaccio (with tostones) saladito and the sweet cheese cachapa :)))
I like arepas and was excitedto try this restaurant. The service was great, very friendly and attentive. The cocktails and wine also great. Unfortunatelythe food was average. We had the ceviche, I was expecting fish in citrus dressing but got shrimp, squid and maybe very small mussels or clams in a tomato sauce.. it was just ok. We had the empanadas, these were the best of the dishes we ordered. As they're made with corn, the bread is sweet. They were not bad. The arepa we ordered was the steak, grilled cheese and avocado. The meat was decent, but the dish overall was disappointing. It was pretty loud inside until halfway through the meal when a few tables left. Loud enough that it was difficult to have a conversation.
As a Venezuelan, everything in White Maize is top quality. Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch or Dinner. You have to check it out!
